KHE SANH

I always think of Khe Sanh at Christmas time.
It was late in January, 1968.
There was an NVA assault.
A U.S. ammo dump was hit.
There was tear gas in the air.
Burning everywhere.
Death.
Stretchers.
Corps-men.
The marines were protecting the DMZ.
Then came Operation Niagra.
Our big bombers drowned the NVA.
There was a waterfall of bombs.
A constant stream of death.
Christmas was over with an RPG.
So was my buddy's life.
God bless you Chuck.
Merry Christmas.
I miss you.
